Halloween is a time to escape and have a little bit of wacky fun before the winter chill really hits. Especially this year, Chicago is thriving on this seasonal excitement and going over the top to provide tricks, treats and tons of festive feels this coming weekend. Don’t miss out on ghoulish-ly delicious specials and outdoor events to make the most of the holiday!

Public House {400 North State Street, Chicago; 312.265.1240}: It is a Monster Mash at Public House in October, and trust us, you want to take part in this graveyard smash ;) Their monthly cake shake is “The Monster Mash,” made with Screwball whiskey, housemade chocolate cake and chocolate peanut butter ice cream, topped with candy corn, Twizzlers and Nerds. It’s a sugar-lover’s dream!

The Goddess and Grocer {multiple locations}: The Goddess and Grocer is celebrating the spooky season with an assortment of themed cookies! Customize your sweet treats with hauntingly creative designs including pumpkins, monsters, the macabre, and more! You can order ahead (but place your orders ASAP!), but a selection of cookies will also be available in-stores at its Bucktown, Gold Coast, and River North locations. Pre-order NOW!

A Week Of Treats Halloween Pop-up {Recess - 838 West Kinzie, Chicago}: A Week Of Treats is a pop-up Halloween experience that includes themed treats, a Halloween cake competition, ghoulish drinks, local businesses with tricks and treats, soul readings, and much more! There will be local bakeries creating various treats, plus a creepy playground with plenty of photo ops and super fun kids activities as well. It ends on November 1 so you have the whole weekend to take advantage!

Diasies {2523 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago; 773.661.1671}: The Daisies team has designed a safe pumpkin patch so guests can have the quintessential fall experience without needing to travel too far this year. Social distancing guidelines will be observed, and pumpkins are available for $10 each. As a bonus, they are offering Pumpkin Patch and Halloween family portrait sessions with various Chicago photographers, and Halloween (Saturday 10/31) is your final day to take advantage of this offering! Formento's {925 West Randolph Street, Chicago; 312.690.7295}: Say “Cheers!” to the holiday with the Burning Budd cocktail, made with bourbon, pear, smoked tea, pistachio, and basil. Their expansive patio will also allow you to take advantage of the warmer weather coming this weekend!

Firecakes {multiple locations}: If you’re celebrating at home but still want to have a decadent Halloween evening, Firecakes has you covered. Pair your Hocus Pocus viewing with one of their housemade Caramel Apples. They’re dipped in pecan-old-fashioned crumble, sprinkles (for good luck), and a white chocolate and dark chocolate drizzle, making them highly Instagram-able as well as delicious 🍎
