Patios Perfect for the Dog Days of Summer

via The Moonlighter

There are few things in life that make us happier than good food and good boys, and a place where you can have both will always be at the top of our list. However, dog owners in Chicago know how difficult it can be to find a place where your pup is welcome too. But it can be done - and both you and your pup can have a great meal on some of Chicago’s best patios! So, before summer comes to an end and we get stuck bundled up inside for winter, check out some of our favorite spots where you can bring your furry friends…

Goddess & Grocer Fulton Market {911 West Randolph Street, Chicago; 773.839.1050}

At this Fulton Market spot, you can always count on solid food and great outdoor seating for you and your furry friends. Stop in for a latte, artisanal drink or breakfast sandwich after a morning walk for a great start to the day. We definitely recommend getting in some patio time, but even if you’re on the go, you sip on one of their seasonal beverages as you walk with your pup.

Bandit {841 West Randolph Street, Chicago; 312.666.6061}

If you’re looking to treat your pet like the king or queen that they are, you have to stop in to Bandit. They have a menu just for man's (or woman’s!) best friend! That special menu has dishes like Skirt Steak or Woof Cream for dessert. The even better news is that they don’t just have a menu for your dog, they also have food for those of us on two legs. With dishes like Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders and Summer Flat Bread, there’s something for everyone.

Firelake Grill House{21 North Columbus Drive, Chicago; 312.477.0234}

Happy hour specials and a patio where your dog is welcome? Yes please! This farm-to-table restaurant offers guests a rotating menu of happy hour specials Monday through Thursday from 4-7PM. They also have a dog-friendly outdoor patio with a puppy menu so your pup can enjoy a treat while you sip on your tasty drinks! Don’t forget to stop by the Lakeshore East Dog Park afterwards to let your dog get its energy out after a long day of laying around.

Sunda {110 West Illinois Street, Chicago; 312.644.0500}

This outdoor hotspot is the perfect way to spend a summer day in River North, especially because it’s dog-friendly. Stop in and try the Avocado Crispy Rice or the Tempura French Toast with fresh berries, whipped cream, banana, candied walnuts and brown sugar glaze. Their patio is pup-friendly too!

PB&J: Pizza Beer and Jukebox {205 North Peoria Street, Chicago; 312.498.7080}

If you’re looking for a chill spot to hangout with beer, great food, fun music AND a treat for your canine, this spot is for you. Try the Burrata and Balsamic Pizza with ricotta bechamel, baby arugula, imported burrata, balsamic glaze and lemon zest if you’re hungry, but don’t leave your furry friend hanging! PB&J also has a Pupwich for all the hungry dogs with a bone-shaped sandwich made with Wonder Bread and Peanut Butter for the ultimate afternoon treat.

The Moonlighter {3204 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago; 773.360.8896}

There’s never a bad time to try a laid-back neighborhood hangout after a long work week. If you’re in need of a chill spot that will make you feel right at home, try The Moonlighter in Logan Square. Not only is there a dog-friendly patio with picturesque umbrellas and string lights, but there is an expansive menu with several vegan options so you can invite just about anyone to come with you!

Paradise Park {1913 West North Avenue, Chicago; 773.687.9117}

We love dog-friendly outdoor space with good food, great cocktails and fun vibes. The beloved Wicker Park space is known for its colorful decor and funky pizzas like the Clay Bacon with roasted chicken, bacon, romas, onions, parsley, cheddar and a ranch base. Also stop in during happy hour Monday through Friday from 3-6PM to try one of half off glasses of wine and $4 beers on draft.
