Where to Celebrate Elijah Craig’s ‘Old Fashioned Week’ in Chicago

via Gilt Bar

Call us old fashioned, but we love a classic cocktail. And, if you do too, come out to celebrate Old Fashioned Week in Chicago! Elijah Craig’s 10-day celebration returns to bars this fall, running from Oct 10-19, with countless Chicago establishments participating in the fun. Bourbon fans can expect to discover creative twists on the classic cocktail all while sipping for a great cause. For every Old Fashioned sold, $1 will be donated to the Southern Smoke Foundation and their mission to help bar and restaurant workers in need.  Here are some of our favorite picks on where to celebrate Elijah Craig Old Fashioned pours in style:

Gilt Bar {230 West Kinzie Street, Chicago, IL; 312.464.9544}

Gilt Bar’s moody, sultry interior could be the most idyllic backdrop for enjoying a classic Old Fashioned. With opulence dripping from the walls, low amber lighting, timbered ceilings and a classic Chicago ergonomic bar, a trip to Gilt  is sure to enhance any evening. Gilt Bar’s menu highlights elevated American cuisine, global wines and old-timey cocktails for a beautiful balance of modern nostalgia. Their prime River North location makes it a perfect starting off or ending point for a night out.

via Inkwell

Inkwell {1039 West Lake Street, Chicago, IL}

Nestled underneath the El in an inconspicuous group of buildings, Inkwell’s location perfectly matches its mood, with a refreshingly unpretentious vibe and staff ready to serve up the highest quality cocktails. Owner Tyler Shaeffer first opened Inkwell in 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska, before opening up a second location in Chicago’s Fulton Market just last year. Tyler and his team have created an outstanding bar program that features both the beloved cocktail classics as well as some unique, trendsetting concoctions to try, so there is no doubt that something truly special will be featured for Old Fashioned Week as well.

via Lazy Bird

Lazy Bird {200 North Green Street, Chicago, IL; 312.761.1799}

The Hoxton Hotel’s intimate + stylish cellar lounge, Lazy Bird, oozes sexiness with prohibition-chic décor and soulful live music. With 52 different cocktails offerings, including entire pages dedicated to different whiskeys + whiskey drinks, Lazy Bird is an absolute must visit for Old Fashioned week. Its romantic, cozy vibes make it the perfect date night or after dinner drinks destination.

Black Barrel {1061 West Madison Street, Chicago, IL; 773.280.5500}

West Loop’s Black Barrel Tavern is the best of both worlds with laid-back, sports bar vibes, from-scratch American fare + an expansive signature cocktail menu. Their no frill no fuss attitude makes it a neighborhood favorite for sports games, patio hangs and even private events in their moody basement lounge. Open for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and weekday happy hours (hello 30% off all appetizers!), Black Barrel is always ready for a good time and Old Fashioned Week should be no exception.

Cabra {200 North Green Street, Chicago, IL; 312.761.1717}

A rooftop Old Fashioned overlooking the West Loop and city skyline? Don’t mind if we do! Cabra, led by famed Chef Stephanie Izard, sits atop The Hoxton Hotel and boasts bold, authentic Peruvian fare and knockout cocktails to match. With floor to ceiling windows, all season patios and a greenery adorned interior, a night out at Cabra is sure to awaken all of your senses.
