Winter Cocktails to Keep Chicago Extra Cozy

Tanta Chicago

Tanta Chicago

If you made it through Dry January and want to celebrate with a cocktail, or are just looking for a delicious pairing with your favorite meal of comfort food, we have the perfect drink to go with that. There are plenty of amazing bars in Chicago, and several have stepped up to create amazing cocktails perfect for the season. All you have to do is sit back, sip, and enjoy…

Tanta {118 West Grand Avenue, Chicago; 312.222.9700}: From the warm, colorful dining room to their exciting all-season rooftop, Tanta has plenty of options for where you can enjoy their famous cocktails like Pisco Sours! Another must-try for a taste of warmer weather is the La Guapa, made with Fid Street-gin infused lavender, rhubarb, lemon and sparkling rosé.

Deep Eddy Vodka’s South Congress Buck: For the at-home bartender who wants to mix it up for colder weather, Deep Eddy has provided a special recipe for our readers! The South Congress Buck is simple, smooth and delicious. Here’s how you can make it at home:

Combine 2 oz Deep Eddy Original Vodka and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, then shake with ice. Strain over fresh ice in an Old Fashioned  glass and top with a heavy splash of ginger beer. Garnish with a leaf of fresh basil.

Ema {74 West Illinois Street, Chicago; 312.527.5586}: While we all wish we could be taking a trip to the sun-soaked beaches of the Mediteranean, we’re going to have to settle in for a cozy winter in Chicago instead. But we can take a culinary trip at least! The beautiful interiors of Ema in River North, enjoyed while you sip on a Greek Hot Chocolate (rosemary-infused Mastiha, cocoa, salt & pepper tincture, and Angostura), makes for a brief respite from the seasonal chill.

Mable's Table {1655 West Cortland Street, Chicago; 773.904.7433}: You can sip your favorite winter cocktails at this Bucktown favorite, or take them to go! Pick your favorite cocktail on their menu (we recommend the Old Fashioned) and have them bottle it to go with your next carryout order. These sips are delicious no matter where you choose to enjoy!

Barrio {65 West Kinzie Street, Chicago; 312.940.9900}: Take your next Taco Tuesday up a notch with margaritas at Barrio! The Mango Hibiscus is made with Avion Silver, Licor 43, lime, agave and ancho reyes for a drink that’s the perfect balance of heat and sweet.

R Public House {1508 West Jarvis Avenue, Chicago; 872.208.7916}: Winter patios call for a great cocktail or two, and R Public House in Rogers Park has both ready for you! Their Pick Me Up cocktail is perfect for coffee-lovers (made with Van Gogh Double Espresso and hot chocolate) and the Chocolate Roll (Becherovka and hot chocolate) is a sweet treat-lover’s dream. No choice is a bad one when it comes to winter cocktails, especially if you can enjoy them with your favorite people.

The Bristol {2152 North Damen Avenue, Chicago; 773.862.5555}: Gather your friends around your computer screens for a virtual party you won’t soon forget! The Bristol has “Build Your Own Bristol Cocktails” so you can gost a virtual cocktail party or put a twist on date night in with one of their 20 craft cocktail choices and a live Zoom demonstration from their Bar Director, Christian Saum.
